I graduated with M.S. from
PhysTech -
Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT)
(Department of Problems in Physics and Energy) in 1993 with
Master of Science in Physics.
MIPT is the leader of high education in physics in Russia. It is situated
in Moscow, the capital of Russia.
You can read MIPT's weekly newspaper
"Za Nauku" (In Russian)
My research work was mostly concentrated on Superconductivity.
The topic of my MS thesis was "Josephson properties of the grain boundaries of
the BaPb1-XBiX
O3 bulk bicrystals".
It is in russian, but it is available by special request.

I received my Ph. D. (and yet another M.S.) from the
Department of Physics,
University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.
My research was related to growth and studies of thin superconducting films
and investigations of Superconductor/ Semiconductor interface properties
(superoconducting proximity effect). My scientific advisor was Prof.
Laura H. Greene.
My Thesis
"Electronic and Optical Properties
of Thin-Film Superconductors and
Superconductor - Semiconductor Interfaces"
is available in PDF format.
I was a Research Scientist at
Physics Department of New York University,
working with Prof.
Andrew D. Kent and his
group
on studies of magnetic properties of
micro-wires with nano-constrictions fabricated with Focused Ion Beam (FIB).

Presently, I am a Research Scientist at
Physics Department
of University of California - San Diego
I am working in the
group
of Prof.
Ivan K. Schuller.
I am involved in several research projects related to the following major
topics:
-
Studies of tunneling in magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJ).
-
Magnetism of
nanostructures (sub-100nm magnetic are fabricated by various
methods including selfassembly in alumina masks by anodization).
-
Exchange bias in multilayers, thin films and nanostructures.
-
Fabrication of nanostructures by self-assembly techniques.
-
Photonic crystal structures for physical, chemical and biological sensors.
-
Capillary
condensation in mesopores
I also participate in other smaller projects.
You can see a scheme demonstrating relation between various research projects.
You can see more details of my
recent
and present research and achivements.
You can see my CV, list of publications, and reprtints.
This page is being developed as well as my scientific experience. :-)
